IQM AWARD 2026
South Wigston High School Awarded
IQM Centre of Excellence Status

South Wigston High School is delighted to announce that it has been awarded both the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Inclusive School Award and Centre of Excellence status.
Following a rigorous assessment process, the school was recognised for its exceptional commitment to inclusive education and its determination to ensure that every learner can thrive academically, socially and personally.
The assessment highlighted South Wigston's strong culture of belonging, high expectations and trauma-informed approach, with inclusion described as the foundation of the school's culture and practice. The report praised the positive relationships between staff and learners, the calm and purposeful learning environment, and the significant improvements in attendance, behaviour and learner outcomes.
Assessors also recognised the school's strong partnerships with families, external agencies and the wider community, alongside its growing reputation for sharing effective inclusive practice with other schools and organisations.
Centre of Excellence status is awarded to schools that demonstrate exemplary inclusive practice and a commitment to supporting improvement beyond their own setting. It reflects South Wigston High School's ambition not only to provide the very best opportunities for its own learners, but also to contribute to the development of inclusive education more widely.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our staff, learners, families, governors and partners. Together, we remain committed to ensuring that every learner feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed.
Ambition. Determination. Respect. These values continue to guide everything we do as we build a school community where everyone belongs and matters.
